Luxury Easter egg packaging
When we were approached by the preferred confectioner of M&S to provide the thermoformed packaging for a new Easter egg, little did we realise just how special this project would prove to be.
The initial project consultation started in the summer of 2014 and the brief was to encapsulate and hold securely, the largest and heaviest decorative Easter egg they had ever produced. It would be M&S’s premier Easter product and their most expensive too.
The Golden Lattice Egg is a limited edition egg with its own manufacturing number and is the ultimate Easter offering in the M&S flagship range. Weighing around 1.5 kilo it takes over an hour to make and is hand decorated by 12 chocolatiers trained specifically to work on this egg.
The packaging had to provide a high level of support and protection, which we achieved by incorporating a series of impact zones designed to ensure the product survived the rigours of transport whilst still having aesthetic appeal at the point of purchase.
The high value of the product demanded a packaging solution that would more than meet the brief. Damaged goods would be very expensive and unacceptable in all but the most exceptional circumstances. That’s why confectioners choose Macpac to supply thermoformed packaging. With a proven track record for quality design, functionality, reliability and affordability we are rapidly becoming a preferred supplier within the food industry.
