Materials

We use a wide variety of materials to manufacture thermoformings that includes:

• APET – virgin material for high clarity
• RPET – Utilises post consumer waste available in different colours
• PE – virgin or recycled material
• PETG - virgin or recycled material
• HIPS – easily colour matched for integrated marketing of packaging
• PS – Colour matched and anti-static available for electronics applications

New Materials

We have conducted extensive trials on a wide variety of new materials including the most well known PLA (polylactic acid) that decomposes in about 3 months leaving no harmful residue. We have had considerable success with many of the renewable starch based plastic derivatives. The principal problem with supplying packaging from these materials is a chronic shortage of supply making them unreliable in production runs. We anticipate that demand will drive new material manufacture in the future and we will be at the forefront when they are more readily available.

Recycling

Simply adding the SPI official recycling logo to your packaging can add consumer appeal and promote your environmental credentials. We have stock tool elements to make this really simple to enhance your packaging.

We have a stringent recycling policy that ensures all scrap and waste products are granulated and made ready for re-extrusion into recycled materials that we can re-use.
